GENERAL IN GAME RULES
- Only horses can be roleplayed here, though occasionally they may have animal companions you play.
- Unicorns, pegasus, regular horses, donkeys, zebras, and custom horse breeds are all permitted.
- All colors, markings, and deformities allowed as long as it still looks like a horse.
- Magical powers are not allowed.
- Liquid time is in play here, meaning your characters can be in multiple threads at multiple times.
- You're allowed to have as many characters as you want.
- Aging is not mandatory. Members may choose to age their characters as slowly or quickly as they like. The reason for this is time on Solaris Iles does not work like it does in the regular world, they are in their own little pocket of awesomeness. The horses are aware of this.
- Solid white and solid black characters are not allowed to be created. This is because only the King and Queen of the Dark and Light alliances can be these colors.
- There is no minimum or maximum word count for posts, so long as it's grammatically correct!
- Powerplaying is only tolerated when you have permission from the other character's player. God modelling is allowed outside of battles but never in battles.
HERD RULES
- SI differs from most horse rpg sites in the sense that it has no lands specifically designated as herds. On SI, all lands are potential herds and can be claimed and fought for. The lands are also not alliance specific, making it more interesting and more strategic to have a herd placed in a specific location versus another. The land descriptions also do not ever change, making some lands more desirable than others.
- In order to claim an empty land, there are no requirements.
- In order to challenge for a land, you must have equal or more numbers in your band than the herd does in their ranks. So if it's a herd of three horses, you must have three horses supporting your challenge (including yourself) or more.
- Herds must specify their allegiance, and can be challenged by any alliance.
- There must be one royal herd for each alliance, ruled by the King (Darks) or Queen(Lights). The royals have the power to oust someone from a herd land they want without a battle if the land is currently owned by a member of their alliance.
- If a horse is challenged for their herd, they must accept or step down. If they forfeit, the challenger has the right to do whatever they like with the current herd members.
- Battles must be judged by staff unless staff are part of the defense or challenge.
- Battles may be judged by either writing skill or creativity, to be decided by the fighters.
- There is no activity requirement for herds, however you cannot count herd members in your ranks that haven't posted in the last two weeks, making it easy for horses to challenge for lands if you have an inactive herd.
- Once a challenge has been made, the defender has 48 hours to respond to it either accepting or forfeiting.
- If a herd leader needs to go away for any reason, a secondary must be designated to defend the herd in their absence. Failure to do so makes the herd claimable.
- Members can only own one land at a time.
- Herds must have one primary ruler but are not required to have a secondary. The Primary can be either male or female.
ROYALTY RULES
- When a horse becomes the King of the Darks, his coat becomes solid black as does his mane and tail. His eyes however remain their former color but glow. When a horse becomes Queen of the Lights, her coat becomes solid white as does her mane and tail. Her eyes remain their former color but glow. This is due to their accepting the responsibility to the good and bad they now must embody. It is part of the sacrifice the island demands to gain that much power.
- A royal's decrees must be obeyed. If you feel an order was unfairly given, please contact staff. Yes, this does include death of characters. All deaths must be reviewed by staff first however.
- Royal thrones cannot be claimed, they can only be challenged for.
- There does not need to be a Secondary royal. There must always be a Primary however.
- The Primary of the Darks must be male, the Primary of the Lights must be female.
- When a horse becomes a royal, they become immortal. They also become immune to sickness and heal very quickly. The King of the Darks becomes invisible in shadow, and the Queen of the Lights glows so brightly in sunlight she blinds those of the Darks.
- All horses on the island instinctively know the name of their current royal, almost as though this information was communicated telepathically by the island itself.
BREEDING AND FOALING
- There is no breeding breeding season here on Solaris Iles, you do not need to announce the intent to breed characters. It is just considered an automatic success.
- Foaling season is listed in the In Character right side table. When it is foaling season, you may post a foaling thread anywhere on site. In order for there to be a successful foaling, you must have at least two threads with three posts by your character where she was played as being pregnant.
- Once you have posted your foaling thread, notify staff and a foal's stats will be posted as well as how the birth went for the mother. This is decided purely by chance and is explained below:
- If the mother is between 5 and 16, there is no penalty to the dice throw. If the mother is under 5 or is over 16, there is a -2. If the mother is over 25 there is a -5. If the sire was two hands taller than the mother or was a draft, there is a -2 penalty. Staff rolls a d20 and subtracts the appropriate numbers. If the total was above 12 it was a successful birth. If it was between 10 and 12 it was troubled but no lasting damage. Between 8 and 10, mother and child are ill but will survive. If between 6 and 10, the child is ill and will have stunted growth and health issues. If between 4 and 6 the child is stillborn. If between 2 and 4, the child dies and the mother will have lasting health issues. If between 0 and 2, both mother and child die.
- A foal may have multiple fathers if the players desire, however there is a -2 penalty for each additional child.
- There are items that can be purchased that will guarantee safe births etc. There are no penalties when a Royal breeds, the d20 roll alone decides their fate.
- Only staff can post foal stats.
